School Eye Health Programme

School Eye Health Programme

The Operation Eyesight’s School Eye Health Program is a critical endeavor that embodies our commitment to ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive academically and lead a healthy life. By addressing vision issues early and promoting awareness, we can make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and communities.

Did you know that up to 80% of a child’s learning is visual?

Visual impairment frequently prevents students from excelling in school and reaching their full potential. It significantly impacts children’s learning abilities and quality of life. Many vision problems go undetected, hindering academic performance and social development. Operation Eyesight recognizes the importance of early intervention and education to prevent and treat eye issues among children.

Objectives of the program:

  1. Early detection: Implement vision screening in schools to identify students with visual impairments or eye conditions
  2. Improving eye care accessibility: Provide comprehensive eye examinations and necessary interventions such as eyeglasses to students in need
  3. Capacity building: Offer educational sessions on eye health and hygiene to students, teachers, and parents to promote awareness and preventive measures.
  4. Collaboration: Building partnerships with school, communities and stakeholders to create a sustainable eye health initiative

Expected outcomes:

  1. Improved academic performance: Addressing vision issues can enhance students ability to learn and participate in school activities
  2. Improved quality of life: Solution to eye care will contribute to the over-all well-being and development of the children
  3. Sustainable Impact: Through collaboration and capacity building, the aim is to create lasting change within the student communities and relevant stakeholders
