The ideal candidate will drive the marketing and communications strategy for Operation Eyesight India’s initiatives in support of the organisation’s mission to eliminate avoidable blindness. The position of Manager – Communications will report to the Head – Resource Mobilization. There will also be strong functional relationship with the Director – Marketing and Communications, Calgary as well as the Country Manager, India. The position will work closely with VP – Advancement and VP – International Programs from time to time based on requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Formulate and implement annual communication plans both for internal and external stakeholders
Advice on design and development of high-quality communications materials – print and electronic that entail conceptualization, messaging, localization of content, translation, artwork, etc.
Keep abreast of trends in communication technology changes and incorporate the same in the communication strategy.
Maintain website and ensure posting of new information and maintain consistency
Support the generation of online content (newsletters, appeal letters, blogs, brochures, annual reports, e-newsletters, and NGOs website) that engages the target audiences
Support in creating and monitoring online fundraising campaigns
Use the digital marketing tools (Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, etc) to meet the organization’s marketing goals
Ensure that the organisation’s brand is consistently and effectively conveyed in all communications
Ensure all communication materials (designs, products, communication and marketing collateral) are brand compliant
Ensure that all donor communications and messaging are targeted efficiently, thereby maximising the organisation’s brand recognition and positioning in the relevant spaces
Coordinate with and support the team with editorial support in developing grant proposals, progress reports, case studies, audio and visual library, project factsheets, presentations, and technical briefs as per organizational mandate
Coordinate with Volunteers and Interns, engaging them with different activities in consultations with programmes team
Support Head, Resource Mobilization in donor stewardship and reporting
Support in conceptualizing and organizing events and communication campaigns to highlight about the work and/or create understanding of specific programmatic issues of public interest
Manage partnership with service providers (event management, advertising etc) as per the requirement of communication strategy
Other responsibilities as assigned by the line manager
Post Graduate Degree in communications (journalism,
public relation, advertising or marketing) or any other related field
Demonstrated ability to write successful
Five to seven years of work experience with
at least 3 years of experience as a communication expert in a social sector
Skills and Competencies:
High level of creativity demonstrated through an ability to transform knowledge and information into exciting and impactful stories and messages
Proven ability in development of digital, social, video & print media content
Demonstrated expertise in conceptualizing and implementing online fundraising campaigns successfully
Proven computer and relevant IT skills
Exceptional written and verbal communications skills in English
Proactive attitude towards work and willingness to learn
Excellent organizational skills, ability to work under pressure, and manage multiple tasks
Experience of working in multi-cultural and multi-specialization teams
Self-motivated and a self-starter
This position is located in Hyderabad, India. Candidates must be able to work flexible hours to accommodate global office (Canada) working hours. Candidates must also be able to travel to donor and project locations as required.
